MOP CONSTRUCTION DEFINED

YARN TYPE

Mop yarn type is the most impactful driver of mop launderability, absorbency, durability, and release. Understanding mop yarn type helps drive proper mop selection for varying applications.

MICROFIBER TUBE

Most durable, stands up to abrasive cleaning and heavy-duty scrubbing with excellent absorbency.

MICROFIBER

Highly durable, non-abrasive general-purpose mop.

BLEND SHRINKLESS

General-purpose mopping. Pre-laundered for reduced shrinking. Longer-lasting and less linting compared to cotton. Highly absorbent/no break-in required.

BLEND

General-purpose mopping. Longer-lasting and less linting compared to cotton. Highly absorbent/no break-in required.

COTTON

General-purpose mopping. Least expensive yarn option. Reliable liquid absorption. Requires break-in, dries slowly, may lint.

NON-WOVEN

General-purpose mopping. Least expensive wet mop option. Highly absorbent. Requires no break-in and delivers reduced linting versus cotton. Not launderable.

FINISH

Designed to provide smooth and even release of chemical and floor finish. Less linting compared to rayon.

RAYON

General-purpose mopping. Reliable liquid absorption. Highest quality of yarn. Resists mildew growth, extending mop life and white appearance.

SYNTHETIC BLEND

All-synthetic mop yarns resist abrasive floor surfaces.

CLEAN ROOM

Made of woven rayon/polyester fabric that will not fray or lint. For use in Class 10,000 and higher industrial applications.

ROUGH-FLOOR

Knitted fleece cotton/polyester blend yarn for highly abrasive surfaces. High absorbency.

NYLON

Non-linting, continuous filament yarn for finishing applications. High launderability.

HEADBAND TYPE

Headbands drive mop handle selection and can be made of cloth or mesh. Mesh headbands dry faster and can sometimes be used as a scrubbing tool due to the abrasive nature of the material.

1" HEADBAND

Most optimal with side-gate Invader^® Wet Mop Handle.

5" HEADBAND

Most optimal with clamp-style Gripper^® Wet Mop Handle.

UNIVERSAL HEADBAND

Compatible with Gripper^® and Invader^® Wet Mop Handles.

BOLT-ON HEADBAND

Works with Bolt-on Wet Mop Handle.

TAILBAND TYPE

Tailbands prevent tangling and improve floor coverage for more efficient mopping. Not all mops have tailbands.

WOVEN TAILBAND

Most optimal with side-gate Invader^® Wet Mop Handle.

YARN TAILBAND

Requires handwashing or limited residential launderings. Economical tailband choice.

NO TAILBAND

Requires handwashing only.

END TYPE

Mop ends can be looped or cut, and ultimately impact mop launderability, fraying, linting, and unraveling.

LOOPED END

Reduces fraying, linting, and unraveling. Allows for laundering, extending lifetime. Generally more expensive.

CUT END

Economical and practical general-purpose mop. Ends may fray and unravel. Does not incorporate tailband, covering less area. Disposable or hand wash.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS FOR MOP SELECTION

	COLOUR-CODED Variety of colours available to allow users to colour-code for reduced cross-contamination, improved organization/tracking, or blending into environments.
	PRE-LAUNDERED Mops can be pre-laundered to reduce linting and shrinkage during use and to speed up the break-in process.
	SIZE Select a mop size depending on the surface area that will be mopped. Sizes range from Small - X-Large, 16 oz - 32 oz, and #16 - #32.
	LAUNDERABILITY Based on the number of washing and drying cycles it can withstand before the construction of the mop is degraded or its performance declines.

ABSORBENCY

Ability to pick up and hold liquid. Higher levels allow faster floor drying times, leading to greater productivity and worker safety.

RELEASE

Ability of a mop to disperse liquid onto the floor or during wringing. Higher levels allow faster and more complete wringing, as well as more efficient application of cleaning solutions on the floor.
